| Free City Training for Not-for- Profits |
|
Nonprofits form a vital part of both New York’s social fabric and its safety net. Because they recognize the important role you play, the City Council, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services (MOCS), is hosting a series of free full day trainings aimed at building capacity in the nonprofit sector. Specifically, the training program addresses key topics concerning fiscal management, corporate governance and legal compliance. Senior representatives from City government will be present to welcome you to the training and present key-note remarks. • Managing a City Contract • Nonprofit Legal Compliance • Performance Management and Outcomes • Internal Controls • Nonprofit Accounting • Conflicts of Interest
Going forward, beginning with Fiscal Year 2011, July 1, 2010-June 30, 2011, the City Council will mandate this training program for some organizations that receive City funds. All members of the Staten Island NFP Association are welcome to register to attend the upcoming session, taking place on April 9th from 9am to 5pm at the Homeport, by visiting the following link:
