The Staten Island NFP Association is the first organization on Staten Island with a mission to provide a common voice to the Borough’s not-for-profit organizations. For the first time, the views of the large and influential not-for-profit community will be presented in a unified manner to elected officials, municipal representatives, business leaders and the general public.

The Staten Island NFP Association plays an active and vocal role at public events and in borough-wide planning processes in order to reflect the strength and significance that these organizations bring to our Borough’s economy and overall quality of life. 

At the core of the mission of the Staten Island NFP Association is the goal to provide effective and meaningful assistance to all members of Staten Island’s not for profit community. Such assistance is provided through a variety of technical assistance services and is tailored to meet the needs of the Borough’s not for profit community.

The Association provides direct assistance to its not-for-profit members in several ways

• Regularly scheduled professional development events provided free to Association members, including upcoming sessions focusing on Human Resources management issues, effective proposal writing and fundraising techniques, program evaluation, and methods to more effectively work with members of the media. These sessions are in many cases be led by professionals from regional organizations who provide these events on Staten Island specifically for the benefit of the Association’s membership;

• Networking events designed to gather the leaders of all of Staten Island’s not for profit organizations together to discuss solutions to common challenges and to identify opportunities for beneficial partnerships;

• Direct one-on-one technical assistance from the Staten Island NFP Association staff to help members address issues of specific need and importance;

• Public advocacy to elected officials, media outlets, business leaders, and members of the general public highlighting the importance of the not for profit sector on Staten Island;

• Access to statistical information regarding the not for profit sector on Staten Island, including data related to economic impact, public visitorship, private fundraising, board complexion and compliance, and compensation;

• Discounts and preferred buying from local vendors on products ranging from supplies and catering to financial and professional services.

How to join the Staten Island NFP Association:

Membership in the Staten Island NFP Association is open to all 501(c) organizations that provide service on Staten Island.  Member dues are assessed according to the scale below.  The application for membership can be downloaded directly here .
