For years, Staten Island’s not for profit organizations have been a key factor in fostering the high quality of life enjoyed by Staten Islanders. The outstanding healthcare, educational, cultural and recreational institutions that comprise the not for profit sector provide services and benefits to the local economy that improve the overall quality of life to an extent not always appreciated by the larger Staten Island community. The Staten Island NFP Association counts 115 of Staten Island's not-for-profit organizations as members, and is led by a sixteen member Board of Directors drawn from the ranks of the borough's not-for-profit leadership.
